I have been an active web developer since 1999, working primarily with PHP and associated technologies.
I’m currently traveling the world working sporadically as an IT consultant.
I have a bachelor degree in Engineering from Monash University in the field of Mechatronics, with Honours.
I am proficient with several scripting languages (PHP, Python, and JavaScript), and several markup languages (HTML, CSS, XML, and XSL). I am a strong proponent of accessibility and web standards.
I’m also familiar with several frameworks including CakePHP, Django and jQuery). I also enjoy the odd task in MIPS, MATLAB, C/C++, Bash, or VHDL when required.
I like long walks on the beach, I use a Macbook Pro with OS X, I have Ubuntu installed, and most of the severs for which I am the system administrator use Debian.
I’m involved with the following open source projects:
- PHP_Compat; a set of userland components to maintain backward compatibility
- Net_GameServerQuery; an API for communicating with multiple servers simultaneously
- The PHP.net manual documentation and user contributed notes
- Django PayPal Cart, a very light weight implementation of the PayPal API and an associated shopping cart
- Bulkmanage and Statistics, modules for the Gallery2 PHP photo gallery software
- Agenda, One page profile and Regcode modules for Drupal6
I am available for consulting work, and can be contacted at aidan@php.net.
